Job Description Summary
The Coordinator of Desktop Solutions is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team of PC Analysts in deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting desktop software and hardware across the college. This position ensures high-quality technical support and user satisfaction by managing deployment projects, maintaining hardware and software standards, and leading initiatives to optimize desktop computing services for faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in desktop support services.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Technical experience in Windows and macOS operating systems and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with desktop management tools (such as SCCM or equivalent), preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate a team of PC Analysts to ensure timely and effective desktop support and deployment services.
  • Coordinate large-scale hardware and software deployment projects, including new equipment rollouts, system upgrades, and imaging initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain desktop images, standard configurations, and deployment procedures in alignment with best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues escalated by the PC Analysts.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to assess desktop technology needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of desktop hardware, software licenses, and related equipment.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles to enhance service delivery and support consistency.
  • Monitor service tickets to ensure prompt issue resolution and quality customer service; analyze trends to recommend improvements.
  • Support the implementation of endpoint security measures and software compliance standards.
  • Stay current with emerging desktop technologies and recommend innovations that improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Assist in developing and managing the desktop solutions budget, including procurement of hardware and software.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware, including installation, configuration, and lifecycle support.
  • Knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, including desktop management tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM, Intune, Jamf, or similar).
  • Knowledge of common academic and administrative software applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, antivirus/security tools).
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (such as ITIL) and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals as they relate to desktop connectivity and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve desktop, peripheral, and software application issues.
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation, SOPs, and technical knowledge bases.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and lead a team in a technical environment.
  • Ability to provide excellent communication, customer service and technical support to users with varying levels of technical ability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work schedule subject to change based on department needs.
  • Ability to work evening or weekend as needed.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 30 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
