Job Description Summary
Responsible for assisting all areas of the intercollegiate athletic program and the college intramural program, under the supervision of the Athletics Director. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of athletic events including planning, scheduling, facilities reservation set-up, officials, equipment, game day operation, and break down. Assist in making sure the college is compliant with all NJCAA rules and regulations as well as those of the college. Assist the department with aspects of student athletic success and retention. Develop and assist in other programs held on campus outside of athletic competition, for example, pep rallies, Welcome Back week events, Spirit week events, intramural events, and outside organization events.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Five years of related experience or required course work/certification and or specialized skills/training

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Supervise and evaluate on-calls employees and work study students.
  • Serve as the timekeeper and enter payroll for part time staff, and enter coach contracts.
  • Coordinate all facilities/room reservations of athletic, intramural, community, credit and non-credit events
  • Coordinate with physical plant for set-up and maintenance of fields and facilities
  • Coordinate officials for all home contests and tournaments
  • Create and monitor game contracts for all contests with other institutions
  • Coordinate all transportation, accommodations, meals, etc. for all away contests and tournaments
  • Recommend purchases, enter requisitions for all athletic teams and department
  • Distribute and inventory equipment, supplies and uniforms of all athletic department and intramural program
  • Perform record keeping of accounts for general funds, fundraising and scholarship accounts
  • Ensure compliance with academic eligibility regulations (NJCAA) for student athletes.
  • Assist in NJCAA eligibility documentation and compliance
  • Assist in preparation of annual reports Student Right to Know, Title IX, Annual Report
  • Assist in identifying student athlete academic issues and student athlete needs to improve retention and graduation rates
  • Assist with academic progress of all student athletes, using college technology
  • Work with staff, coaches and student-athletes to achieve department goals.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff and faculty.
  • Abide by the sanctioned rules and regulations that PGCC’s athletic program are affiliated with.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of the College.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
SPECIAL REQUIRENIENTS
  • Valid driver’s license without any restrictions that would prohibit college insurance policy
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
