Job Description Summary
Responsible for performing a variety of routine field and clerical work in support of non-criminal police functions associated with campus police operations.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than two current points (must be able to qualify for college insurance coverage).
  • 6 months of related experience which involved basic clerical/office skills and interaction with the public or required course work/certification.
Criteria
CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Answers routine inquiries from the general public and makes proper dispositions or directs them to proper authorities.
  • Handles non-emergency calls and priority calls for service.
  • Other duties as assigned, including the extension centers
  • Retrieves and inputs data into the computer terminal.
  • Indexes and codes a variety of records
  • Performs data entry and distribution of student parking permits.
  • Provides general clerical support to various administrative functions using a typewriter and word processor.
  • Operates the police substation.
  • Maintains forms and office supplies at police substation and orders when necessary.
  • Distributes crime prevention materials.
  • Opens and secures offices and classrooms as required.
  • Transports reports and other paperwork to various locations on campus, and to off-site extension centers.
  • Escorts faculty, staff, and students to their vehicles.
  • Issues parking citations for violations of college parking regulations.
  • Advises the general public on parking regulations.
  • Performs special uniformed security details as required.
  • Assists in special traffic control.
  • Provides relief police dispatching duties as needed.
  • Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment, such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work Tuesday – Saturday at the University Town Center Location.
  • Ability to work the following hours
    • Tuesday – Thursday: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
    • Friday – Saturday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
